Chelsea Wynder, BSN, RN

Blogger. Nurse Mentor. MS Warrior. Influencer. ProFashional.

I, Chelsea Wynder, also known as “The Fabuleux Nurse” grew up in Natchitoches, La, USA. I have a 4-year history as a Registered Nurse working Med Surg/Tele, ER, Stepdown and Occupational Nursing. Within the last 2 years, I have become a full time travel nurse, nursepreneur, philanthropist, digital influencer, blogger and nurse mentor. I attended Northwestern State University of Louisiana's Nursing program. Although nursing school was brutal on ones social life, I was still able to join the Exquisite Eta Chi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc following in my mother’s shoes. After college, I moved to Shreveport to pursue a career in Nursing. My first job as an RN was challenging, nerve-wracking and an overall defining life experience. I was in charge of caring for ill humans on a post op Med Surg floor with little support and on top of that I was promoted to Charge Nurse within the first 6 months. I was able to develop an incredible skill set however, the conditions were not what I hoped for and work quickly led me to unhealthy habits and depression. At 23 I was burnt out from a career I worked so hard to be in, so I had to take a step back and ask myself... “what’s next?” I knew this was my calling but there had to be a solution that would allow me to be happy and be fulfilled doing what I love. Then I discovered Travel Nursing.

I began travel nursing in 2018, as I tell everyone, to have my cake and eat it too. I developed a new excitement for life and learned the importance of caring for my mind, body and spirit. I began blogging about work-life balance, travel, and my experience with travel nursing. I launched my website thefabuleuxnurse.com right after a very eye opening, yet relaxing Hawaii trip. It gives me such joy to be able to inspire others of all age groups by sharing my experiences and expertise. Although I only traveled throughout my home state until recently, working at many top institutions, I have been able to expand my resume in many ways. I have worked in various specialties from Med Surg/Tele float pool, ER, ER observation, Cardiac Step down, Occupational Nursing and now I can throw Clinical Trial/Research experience in there. Not to mention the experience all of us have gained actively working through the Covid-19 pandemic. From nasal swabs to caring for my critically ill covid patient at the bedside, I must say this has been an emotional year.Travel Nursing has also allowed me to get back into traveling for leisure. With every contract, I am sure to take off for at least a week mid way through my contract and I also plan to take a trip after each assignment...trust me, you’ll see why!

I find it important to always be transparent with my followers, as well as, subscribers about my life’s highs and lows. Many look at influencers on social media and assume their lives are perfect but you can’t always judge a book by it’s cover. We are all human and no one person is perfect despite the idea social media may give you. Even with my Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis, I still aim to share my journey with you all in hopes to encourage the next person. My primary social platform is Instagram: @thefabuleuxnurse and @fabuleuxnurses. With these two combined, I have a growing network of over 8K following: primarily nurses, student nurses, women and those with chronic illnesses. My main goals through my content and business are to uplift, help and support people especially those battling chronic illnesses and nursing students. These goals led me to create Fabuleux Nurses, Inc. which serves the medical community as a source of scholarship, mentorship and a safe haven for nursing students and new nurses. I also have created two merchandise brands including Fabuleux Nurse merchandise and the Invisible Illness Gang. Nursing is my chosen career but with my many talents, I have so much more to offer this world. I hope you enjoy browsing my site and all of the unique content I have to offer. Take a look around; perhaps you’ll discover a newfound passion for yourself. Read on and enjoy!
